Destination
Lefkada is the only Ionian island connected to the Greek mainland by a bridge, and the launch point for one of the most photographed beaches in Greece: Porto Katsiki.
Lefkada (also Lefkas) lies in the centre of the Ionian archipelago and is the ideal starting point for sailing trips to the neighbouring islands of Kefalonia, Ithaca, Paxos and the Meganisi islands. Lefkada Marina is located right in the island's main town and is one of the most widely used charter locations in Greece.
On Lefkada's west coast lies Porto Katsiki beach, framed by sheer white limestone cliffs and turquoise water, regularly voted Greece's most beautiful beach. It is best reached by sailing boat: anchor off the bay and swim ashore.
Other highlights: Egremni beach (similarly spectacular, reached only via 350 steps), the island of Meganisi with its quiet bays and authentic fishing villages, and the headland of Cape Doukato in the south, from which, according to legend, the poet Sappho threw herself into the sea.
The classic route from Lefkada leads to the islands of Meganisi, Kefalonia, Ithaca (home of Odysseus), Paxos and back. This week-long round trip is one of the most popular and varied in Greece, suiting beginners and experienced sailors alike.

FAQ
No. Lefkada is the only Greek island with a land connection to the mainland (via a swing bridge), so getting there by car, bus or rental car is straightforward.
Porto Katsiki lies on Lefkada's south-west coast, about 25 nautical miles from the marina. It makes a fine day's sail with a stopover in one of the west-coast bays.
The classic: Lefkada → Meganisi → Ithaca → Kefalonia (Fiscardo) → Paxos → Antipaxos → back to Lefkada. This trip fits into 7 days with moderate legs of 20–35 nautical miles.
